Rules that stop working

A common cause of this is if you have a rule for of a device that has been deleted. Until this rule is removed the system will not accept any changes to rules.

Generally devices should never be deleted except for the following exceptions:

1) The device was added by accident (wrong type at the time of creation for example)
2) The device was added as part of a test account that is being completed removed

If a device is no longer required by the customer it should just be unlinked. This also preserves the log history of the device (which is lost if it’s deleted)

The following is an example of a rule where the Lock was deleted ,as you will see the device is now called the "System" :

• When the "System" is unlocked, then do the following:
• 1) Always turn on the Outdoor appliance

• When the "System" is locked, then do the following:
• 1) Always turn off the Outdoor appliance

You will have to delete the rule by first deleting any actions associated , then deleting the condition.
